Spirit on the water
Darkness on the face of the deep

I've been trampling through mud
Praying to the powers above
I'm sweating blood
You got a face that begs for love

I'm pale as a ghost
Holding a blossom on a stem
You ever seen a ghost? No
But you have heard of them

I see you there
I'm blinded by the colors I see
I take good care
Of what belongs to me

I hear your name
Ringing up and down the line
I'm saying it plain
These ties are strong enough to bind

Your sweet voice
Calls out from some old familiar shrine
I got no choice
Can't believe these things would ever fade from your mind

From East to West
Ever since the world began
I only mean it for the best
I want to be with you any way I can

High on the hill
You can carry all my thoughts with you
You've numbed my will
This love could tear me in two

I wanna be with you in paradise
And it seems so unfair
I can't go to paradise no more
I killed a man back there

Ya. I know. Another song with romantic expression. And another song with more to it than that. Unless he's saying his love is so deep and vast for this woman he has to liken it to ancient or eternal things. Really?

How 'bout the dirt he's in with dependence on heavenly powers. Or a certain name all the way up and down some line with that "special love" that binds common ties, like in the old song, "Blest Be The Tie That Binds." And then some voice from a holy place associated with a sacred person? And a sweet voice it is to a believer's ears. And then a relationship that stretches to the horizons ever since creation? Oh, and then some hill, desire for paradise, unfair not to go in spite of my law keeping 'cause I killed a man? On that hill? Me? Yes, all of us.

But if you acknowledge your guilt in doing that and trust the one who died and rose again, the way is open.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was without shape and empty, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, but the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the water. God said, “Let there be light.” And there was light!

Finally he sent his son to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’ But when the tenants saw the son, they said to themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come,
let’s kill him and get his inheritance!’ So they seized him, threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him.

Matthew 21:37-39

The high priest said to him, “I charge you under oath by the living God, tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.” Jesus said to him, “You have said it yourself. But I tell you, from now on you will see
the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power and coming on the clouds of heaven.”

Matthew 26:63-64

And in his anguish he prayed more earnestly, and
his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.

Luke 22:44

One of the criminals who was hanging there railed at him, saying, “Aren’t you the Christ? Save yourself and us!” But the other rebuked him, saying, “Don’t you fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we rightly so, for
we are getting what we deserve for what we did, but this man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come in your kingdom.” And Jesus said to him, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Luke 23:39-43

For this is the way God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16

So they took Jesus, and carrying his own cross

For if
while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, how much more, since we have been reconciled, will we be saved by his life?

Romans 5:10

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world rulers of this darkness, against
the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens.

Ephesians 6:12

He humbled himself, by becoming obedient to the point of death – even death on a cross! As a result God exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow – in heaven and on earth and under the earth – and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:8-11

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation, for
all things in heaven and on earth were created by him – all things, whether visible or invisible, whether thrones or dominions, whether principalities or powers – all things were created through him and for him. He himself is before all things and all things are held together in him.

Colossians 1:15-16

He committed no sin nor was deceit found in his mouth. When he was maligned, he did not answer back; when he suffered, he threatened no retaliation, but committed himself to God who judges justly. He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we may cease from sinning and live for righteousness. By his wounds you were healed. For you were going astray like sheep but now you have turned back to the shepherd and guardian of your souls.
